Hotel Adlon Kempinski, Berlin

The lobby of the hotel Adlon shines in new glory

In just three months, the entire lobby was completely renovated and reopened at the end of 2016. From the carpet to the lighting and its control to the furniture, the area was redesigned. The renovation took place while the lobby was in operation and was realized with a total investment of six million euros.

Together with our partner office BWE Bodo Werner we delivered, programmed and commissioned the lighting control components. The fireplace room and the lobby were equipped in two construction phases. The LED retrofit lamps in the „Chandeliers“ are controlled homogeneously and flicker-free via our universal dimmer.

The absolute highlight of the lighting is the panelled ceiling. The individual panels are illuminated with LED strips, which are controlled separately. Therefore, a total of 1500 DALI addresses and 110 dimming circuits are assigned. The panelled ceiling and its lighting can be particularly well coordinated. As requested by the customer, the lighting becomes brighter with each circle towards the inside. This makes the depth particularly effective. In the professional setting on the touch PC, the gradations for each circle can be precisely defined.

Healthy lighting in a circadian rhythm achieves biological effects

The lighting of the coffered ceiling in the hotel Adlon follows this insight, which is why warm white and cold white LEDs were installed. By mixing these colours, the colour temperature of the sun can be reproduced at any time of day. An outdoor light sensor measures the current colour temperature of daylight and automatically adjusts the interior accordingly.

Thus the colour temperature changes analogous to natural daylight and promotes a healthy sleep-wake rhythm. The adjustment of the colour temperature can also be set as desired for purely decorative purposes.

Different light scenes are also stored for lighting during the day, in the evening and at night. In this way, all too grey days indoors can be consciously changed. The nights are bridged with light scenes because no sunlight is available.
